Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

Yes that thought can not really go away. Especially since burner construction drones were mentioned in one of the WUBE's reactions here. I would love to see the mod considered vanilla. The construction drones seemed to be a side project, as seen on the mod page there is still room for improvement. W...

Re: Ultimate Paranoia Defence

Mind blowing, well done:p But arent you constantly replacing those front line radars in picture 1? Rather place them a bit back like in picture 3. It feels like they are much closer in spitter range. Anyways, enjoy and thanks for sharing this piece of art!

Re: Self Assembling Stations and Trains that don't need to be Scheduled.

This system works rather well to supply multiple outpost stations, including self repairing/expanding walls with isolated botnets. I suggest to add a yellow chest and a empty wagon, so you can get rid of waste (wood, personal disposal, stone etc.) and collect that at the same time of supplying. How ...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

Maybe a bit of a provocative question: ... Or put in another way - why are you certain that adding solid fuel to the chemical science pack was the wrong approach? The solid fuel was not a mistake, but sulfur fits the new paradigm of direct-to-gas better by not forcing use of the inefficient gas->so...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

Final try, since above comments are spot on, and I strongly agree on them, enough said about that. When your building/infrastructure cant keep up with your research speed, without experience of the tree and what is coming, you will get lost. That's not getting solved elegant with a pick axe in this ...

Re: Train not aligning with train stations correctly.

You can step stations per 2 wagons. So an en number of locs will solve your question. If you want a train belt give all stops in the loop the same name, and ste them an even number of wagons apart from each other. that way you only have to set 2 stations it he train schedule, to make the giant train...

Re: Friday Facts #304 - Small bugs; Big changes

It seem that solid fuel is, at the moment of unlocking, not clearly as valuable as it is for new players. I noticed yesterday in my game, my starter furnace block was still on coal, far after the first rocket launch, reason: it worked fine supporting my electic smelters, and the starting coal patch ...

Re: How old are the players of Factorio

Supaplex! 28 autumns young. Spent way too many hours in Factorio, but nowhere from done.

This simulator is for nerds from all ages, mainly challenging your own brain (you can make is as hard as you want). Also the internet helps alot. So much info to find and options to ask.

Re: Cars on belts

Congratulations and thanks for publishing more car on belt stuff. Rather inspiring. Those splitters indeed made some development to the simplified state as they are now. A thing that comes to mind is belt length, mining specificly. Would'nt belts simply become too long (and thereby having more and m...

Thanks alot for buffing the tank back, that might make it useful again:D Thanks for removing those loader placeholders. I agree on above robot-suggestions. Bots are (were) not powerful enough to pay up for their "convenience". What bugs me most about the tutorial, that things are so differ...

Re: Do you think Wube would buy/hire Bobs mod dev(s)?

Having some good modders around is just as valuable for them i guess. Having a active modding community is a sign of a dedicated player base. Independent modders are way more free then they would be on a payroll.
Though i would pay for joined force pack; mods with more of a vanilla look.

Re: Handling 7 Science Paks

Usually when my triangle of labs can't handle the packs anymore (inserters in the first lab are the limiting factor here) i start running three parallel yellow underground belts. This is a design i found in a multiplayer game. The space on top of the undergound belts can be filled with labs which us...

Re: When do YOU give up and start fresh?

udually when i get back to a map after a while.. By not playing i forget the specific quirks (like hand fed bootstrappers, weird belt spagetties). Also the large layout need to be thought out well at the start. A great help for me is the mod to alter map settings in game. (mod called "change ma...

By your post i assume you played factorio before fff 224 , is it? Have you tried making a rail based modular base? A belt or bot only factory? Customized scenarios? Mods? Usually you set your own limits to challenge yourself in a way you like. The " grind" of making more (and more complex)...

Re: Mixed ore mining or Uranium processing: Ore separation strategies

It depends an the state of the game, early youvstart with filtser splitter, and upgrade to other solutions like cargo wagons or a botnet. Usually you want to split it at the mine, and buffer filtered ores to feed your smelters. I love the dangerores and diggy scenarios since mixed ore is everywhere....

Re: [0.17.x]Free Combination railway system

Cool simple set, i think i will grab these for testing purposes (a good starter for hex grids:D). But i think i will remove alot of the turn-around corners, since the grid has plenty of option to turn around reducing some of the crossing tracks will probabily increase the troughput. I' m glad its eq...
