Filling a single train is a objective itselve. Amazing machine, you have really beaten the game.

Ha, i do. .. on my Fibonacci shaped spiral base https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_spiral xD. Since i feed from the center old ammo is emptied FIFO. Strongholds are p...

Not surprising at all. The later tech is supposed to be THE resource sink, so, well, it is expensive :)

Re: Fixing NPE - Full Burner Start

Tldr: I suggest to allow AM1 to run on coal or steam. Although i really like the idea (What about steam powered bootstrappping:p), the burning phase probabily won' t get changed in this state of finishing up to 0.17. Since there are good arguments for that, a full burner start (phase) would maybe fi...

Re: Friday Facts #275 - 0.17 Science changes

The sat is, as it is the most complex recipe, the end boss of factorio. By the time you need you have all the technology to produce/deliver it the way you like most. Putting it behing winning a game by launching a empty rocket feels silly and not as a improvement ihmo. The hard ratios do not invite ...

And add those posters to the box;) edit: What are current dev thoughts about mixing fluids? I like the idea of the second fluid disappears while damaging your pipes, so fluid-mixing stop themselves. Preventing mixing of fluids is a fundamental part of fluid logististics. Multi fluid stations are coo...

Re: Friday Facts #271 - Fluid optimisations & GUI Style inspector

All the entities on the picture are just washed and clean for the picture:p Too clean if you ask me. It misses some layer of dirt to temper the bright colours.
With this picture, the game should be sold in a box!

Great to hear about the fluid progress.

Re: feedback: train signals are hard

OpedTTD and Locomotion learned me what, and what not, to do. As the game assumes you can calculate, it asumes you can path trains the conventional way (there are no real new mechanics in Factorio trains). But the tutorial/New player experience is worked on. That might could clear up some clouds in-g...

Re: Steam Best Developer nomination

The most fun with machine award feels like made for Factorio. You can interpretate it as vehicle mechanics and physics stuff, but on the other hand, the gameplay experience in Factorio is made by machines, entirely. The machine you made surrounds you, occupies you entirely. You become slave to the m...

Re: Friday Facts #270 - HR Substation & Save/Load overview

First thought: I think labour of love fits better then fun with the machine. Thats reserved for cars and stuff imho like a racer/tractor/catapult etc. In Factorio Vehicle snap mod is needed to releave pita in simply drivingstraight in a car. Second thought: Steam just created a award for Factorio: &...

Re: Friday Facts #268 - The modern Biter

The animation feels crisp, but the 6 legs together are not walking as an insect, maybe give them teeth in stead of paws. The front legs missing a joint make the focus turn to the 4 rear legs running as a horse. The order of movement is correct, but the front legs are weird. It makes fighting more lo...

I understand your point, engineers love standardizations. Scroll back to FFF-262: Red assemblers? . Here a simulair point is discussed. Agreed thare are a lot assemblers, but main part of the game, and you have more belt parts. I agree if one points out that colors in video games are a important asp...

Again to hard to keep short: TLDR: >I understand the end product should snap as LEGO, but simplification seem not to be leading to more consistency or logic clearness. >Factorio is about ending in a mess in your very own way, according to your own rules. The current functions should be tweaked for i...

When playing freely in a new game it is really helpfull is there is some sort of help button where functions are grouped together with short explanation pages (like the smelter one) a sort of ingame encyclopedia so you choose when to watch it (" i'm stuck, click help and search the right topic)...
