Re: Friday Facts #382 - Logistic groups
Yes, I don't like being limited to one landing pad. Also, restricting inventory weight when sending the player through space seems like a bit much. Who's going to implement manually travelling back and forth to carry more cargo as part of their main transport process? It might work a few times, but ...

Really don't see how quality could be applied to liquids. Going to assume they're not.EustaceCS wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 8:07 pmChipped Barrel of Chipped Lubricant.computeraddict wrote: ↑Thu Oct 26, 2023 8:38 amCan I vote for "chipped, flawed, regular, flawless, perfect"?
This is ridiculous.
And I'm not even starting on Perfect...

Nice! Thanks for this. And I do appreciate the work on the core game instead of just pumping out content and not polishing the core game.

Re: Friday Facts #379 - Abstract rewiring
Thank you for the ability to rewire circuit connections remotely. It was always tedious to have to copy, paste by my feet, rewire, copy and paste remotely. This is a nice QoL addition!
The wires and shadows look good. Honestly, I never noticed anything wrong with them before.

Re: Unable to login in game
CA cert not found. Anything in /etc/ssl/certs ? First off, try openssl s_client -CApath /etc/ssl/certs/ -connect auth.factorio.com:443 Check for CA cert package: dpkg -l|grep ca-certificates if not found type sudo apt-get install -y ca-certificates also type (anyway): sudo update-ca-certificates Als...

Re: Unable to login in game
Test a simple SSL connection to another remote host..
Try openssl s_client -connect google.com:443
It should connect on TCP 443, display some cert and cipher info, and wait for your command.
If there is some other problem, like DNS, clock sync, it will not work.

Factorio using UDP and I don't know if it responds to a rudimentary test connection. So maybe monitor the process or service.
Linux? try using watchdogsec and onfailure systemd options. With those you could run scripts to send an alert email or restart the service, etc..

Try a memory test.
Click start, and then type "windows memory diagnostic".
Try underclocking your RAM if there are issues.

Yes, my problem is I already know I will start a new map for the expansion, and now I don't want to put any more time in my existing map!

Re: The big question: Are you going to try v2?
I found myself in the same predicament. I have a huge complicated map. Do I continue the map in 2.0? There will be a lot of reworking. Do I play 1.1? I think there is no way I could stand not playing the new DLC. So my decision was I will make the best out of the DLC and start fresh. But now I have ...

Re: Friday Facts #377 - New new rails
Those indicators are weird, they are quite far into the rail and have no counterpart on the other side. Looks to be aligned to a grid. From the 2 you circled, the corners point straight to the next nearest position, and the lower one looks directly below the one above it, and the upper one looks di...

Re: Friday Facts #377 - New new rails
The rail updates look really good, except for one thing. You briefly mentioned the problem of manual control when going through complex junctions. How would manual train control be implemented in the final graphic in your post, where one rail splits into five parallel tracks? I think it would be pr...

Is no one going to mention the combinator-looking thing being put into a red chest? https://i.imgur.com/EJwRqrL.png It's hard to imagine a 3rd combinator, unless they want to make memory cells easier, or something like that. A unique ID would be useful. Long-range transmission without wires would b...

Re: Friday Facts #377 - New new rails
LOL thanks for all you're grueling work. This is a fantastic update that will greatly benefit virtually every player.Meaning I for example spent literal weeks arranging the wooden ties bit by bit in a maddening process, but now the different rail pieces fit together really well.
