Re: My first Factory

I actually find it curious to see a new players progress, especially since he didn't start of all spaghetti like most of us. On the reddit you will find a lot of posts like these. Maybe not for u as a target audience, but you don't have to get offensive about it either To the OP: Please press ALT a...

Re: Factory control board.

Why do you use the letter signals for the items instead of the items themselves as signal (which would be much more intuitive)?

Re: 4-lane RHD intersection with optimized left turn [images+blueprints]

The root of the problem is "loops". If you have loops you can always find situations where you have trains fed into them up to a point where they block eachother. The straight tracks and left turns together form a closed loop where trains in principle could go-around forever. Or in other w...

Yep. Possibly simply allow to add them to the blueprint books (in essence they're somewhat reverse blueprints).

Re: Beacon on/off via circuit network

Well, as you are aware: you can switch off stuff you do not need: there is a circuit breaker for this reason; adding a switch to each entity would only simplify this task.

Signal placement sometimes denied even if there is space

With certain track layouts signals cannot be placed on both sides of the track - even though there is enough space on the side. This seems to be the case when the track is not accessible (without stopping and driving backwards) from the side one wants to place signals on. This situation can occur wh...

Train schedule not properly updated

When the next active stop of a train changes (the yellow highlighted one), the complete schedule vanishes in the trains overview. Compare the two screenshots of the identical situation just seconds apart (I only reopened the train window; first screenshot is (nearly) how it should be, 2nd is like it...

Re: Belts vs Bots - A response to FFF #224

Construction bots are definitely more than a convenience: they keep the game playable beyond midgame, removing the grind, helping players focus on what's important. Logistics bots are something in between, but mostly a convenience: Logistics bots which supply the player with whatever s/he orders for...

Re: [0.17.x] [linux] hang upon loading / starting game

I can definitely confirm that it works with a more powerful graphics card (but otherwise mostly identical default setup, thus noveau driver). Testing on my underused windows install showed that factorio often hit 100% GPU usage when the game got slightly busy or especially when trains were nearby. I...

Re: My Account had disappeared

May I suggest source for confusion ?

There's two different accounts which seem to not be linked: one for factorio.com and for the forums.factorio.com. At least it got *me* quite confused.

Re: Version 0.17.14

I played a lot 0.16.51 and loved it. Looked onto the 0.17.x experimental yesterday and I totally dont like a lot of changes made, the UI looks clumpy and overloaded compared to 0.16.51, the new treadmills look really bad, with the new 3d animation on the horizontal, looks confusiong and it taking m...

Re: Thank you (Make the dev-team happy today!)

Damn you, damn you... With 0.17 I started a new game... and my sleep during the nights since have been incredibly short. There always is just another next thing to do and it is absolutely capturing. Thank you for the already many hours of gameplay with this newest and greatest release - and the many...

Re: Private trains?

I'm playing the railroad map, first time (...) Why not make a private train to use as transportation? I tried it and it works great! Yes, a private train is very nice for these things. I combine that with my supply / construction train which is 2 engines, 3 wagons and one artillery. By default it's...

[0.17.x] [linux] hang upon loading / starting game

With the 0.17.x versions on linux Factorio does not start a new game anymore or load a map. I get to the main menu, and I can select a file to load or a new map to start - but it does not get beyond that, remaining in the graphics driver forever and freezing the complete GUI system. It used to work ...

Re: Friday Facts #280 - Visual Feedback is the king

I totally like the love you give the train interface. That should make train handling a lot easier. And the same has to be said for the blueprint interface. That currently is a bit... say, unintuitive and I end up cluttering my whole inventory with blueprints which I regularily need to weed through ...

Re: Friday Facts #236 - Building a rollup

I'm very late to the party as I only now actually started with the game. Answering V's question from FFF #236, I'd say "yeah, very typical V45300" :P And I mean it in a very positive way - it's a very nice showcase of what the game offers and a nicely complicated chaos (or should I say &qu...

Re: Friday Facts #275 - 0.17 Science changes

These changes read very reasonable and sound to me - for the reasons listed in the FFF. Especially the military science and blue science probably profit and fit smoother into the game.

Nice way to go forward and looking forward to it :)

Re: Thank you (Make the dev-team happy today!)

Thank you for this magnificient game! I recently bought it and after short of 200 hours but a lot of tinkering in the game I launched my first rocket. It started with a somewhat messy starter base, an even messier intermediate one and ended up in a fairly decent base with a main belt and everything ...
