Re: 0.17 Laser turret shooting speed

As a few examples: -Lasers dilute the further they go, making them much less effective on long ranges. -The laser "beam" shouldn't be visible, unless there is something in its path (compare shining a flashlight through fog). If there is something in its path, that would further dilute its...

Re: GOG : Can't get experimental build (no serial keys anymore)

I just checked GOG and was able to get my key as I did a few months ago. I don't think anything has changed.

From https://www.gog.com/account , select Factorio, click More, and click Serial Keys.

You should probably post the save and modlist up. It's hard to reproduce this presumed pathing problem without the save.

Re: Friday Facts #297 - New resource icons

I used to do game logic with integers only for a previous job and it was a pain. It's a huge game design limitation that is not worth it. Avoiding floating point problems is not a big deal. As a developer (but not game), can you elaborate why that is the case? I can't see something like the angle o...

Re: original_damage_amount and final_damage_amount output the same value

Why would this be a bug? If your armor doesn't defend against that damage type (eg impact on power armor, laser on biters), one would obviously expect the two values to be identical.

Re: "Laser speed" - bit overkill?

The thread keeps returning to the claim that "PLDs are OP" (which is pretty much accepted by everyone on the thread), but it's used as evidence that "laser speed research is overkill", which is a completely different issue that's only tangentially related to PLDs. Nerf PLDs for a...

You can probably PM the author to ask them to add the recipes for your specific mod setup.

It's been previously reported viewtopic.php?f=48&t=67149

I find it really annoying too, but apparently according to the devs there's no easy solution due to the implementation.

Re: [0.17.38] Nuclear Fuel Train not travelling at max speed

Were the trains ever fueled with something else? If the old fuel hasn't been used up fully it could be running on the old fuel until it burns out, then it will start using the nuclear fuel.

Re: [0.17.38] Items disappear when picking up assembling machine

Within a team of 20 people, differing opinions exist. In the end, someone makes a decision: https://forums.factorio.com/57452 Thanks for the clarification. I'm still heavily in favour of this being reset back to the .16 behaviour. It's a little ironic that the eponymously named kovarex process is t...

Not a bug: https://forums.factorio.com/68370 https://forums.factorio.com/67923 (No dev comment but those threads have been moved to Not a bug) This seems extremely unusual to me, though. Losing all your 235 for a simple placement error is a rather large punishment. This also explains why I lost all...

Re: It can also be used to mine any kind of path, said no-one ever

Fair enough :). How about this : It can also be used to remove any kind of floor tiling (Action : "Mine" floor while holding). Agreed, something along the lines of this would certainly make more sense from a grammatical perspective. My initial take on the rephrasing https://forums.factori...

Re: It can also be used to mine any kind of path, said no-one ever

In my opinion, a simple change to "It can also be used to replace any kind of path" would be clearer, and should be sufficient to keep everyone happy. Using "replace" is actually an inferior phrasing IMO compared to the existing one, as it is technically incorrect. As already me...

Re: "Laser speed" - bit overkill?

Laser defence is indeed OP (IMO mainly due to their greatly reduced power draw), however your argument that lasers are OP because their damage scales quadratically to research holds no water. Gun turrets also have shooting speed upgrade in addition to damage upgrades, and their damage also scales qu...

Re: It can also be used to mine any kind of path

Actually, technically speaking the game tracks two different types of tiles for every square because it tracks the terrain tile and the tile that gets placed over it... but this distinction is irrelevant to players. I think this terminology confusion for "tile" clearly explains why a unif...

Re: 0.17.36 shift-left mouse button transfer item to player quickbar not working

I mean, since the whole point of the quickbar is to be a place where you place items to hotkey and use, I don't see much of a point in making a hotkey for the transfer *to* the quickbar. It seems pretty redundant to me. Also, the right way to use the quickbar is to put items in different slots and s...

Re: Factorio Leader Board

Late game megabases are generally not limited by the production rate (due to the infinite map), but instead by the UPS (updates per second). I'd much rather play a 2k spm megabase with decent framerate than a 10k spm megabase with <20 UPS.

Re: The price on Steam vs GoG in Poland

GoG does not offer regional pricing, but Steam does, this is a difference in store fronts. If you are looking to buy on GoG because the game is DRM free there, Steam is still a pretty good option for you: If you buy on Steam and then connect your Steam account to factorio.com, you can download the ...
