Re: We support Ukraine

the United States definitely has gigantic experience in various wars, which they successfully share with the Armed Forces of Ukraine oh, i guess this is why Russia was unable to complete their 3 day special operation Russia lacks experience why would you want Russia to take Ukraine, if they can har...

Regarding Mac support ... Mac is already supported
FFF-285 >3 years ago discussed the issues with MacOS support, and that they were looking for someone to maintain this. I don't think they ever found one. it doesn't support the Metal API etc.

Re: Factorio is coming to Nintendo Switch™

- Only online download. - Same price - Demo will be available same price is a pretty crap way to release a game without the full functionality. SnowRunner on Switch did the same thing. it is about $120 to get all the addons and DLC and yet the game runs at less than half the performance of PC versi...

Re: Friday Facts #370 - The journey to Nintendo Switch

Does this mean we might get a generic ARM build for platforms other than the Switch?[...]a native M1 macOS port[..]a development machine for ppc64le[...] this is exactly what they said they don't plan to do, for the reasons you've implied here - there's nowhere that "new platform support"...

Re: [Linux] Comply with the XDG directory standard

many people find it beneficial to have an uncluttered home directory while having dotfiles visible. Making it configurable wouldn't make life harder for anyone. you could just run everything in a filesystem namespace if clutter is the reason for this. then you can do that on your own, without bothe...

I don't understand that: Mac@@x64 is actually supported. That should include most of the notarization, build scripts, ... So the jump to Mac@arm doesn't seem so far when ARM is already supported too.
that's a pretty good point. do anyone at Wube have an M1 system to dev on? need one donated?

seems like it should be pretty low-effort from my point of view. Architectural difference issues have been fixed now for switch and server doesn't have any of graphics and sound stuff to worry about.
so easy and low-effort when you're not the one paying others to implement it, lol

Re: Friday Facts #367 - Expansion news

Would really appreciate an update on this from Wube. Really looking forward to this. The suspense is killing me! yeah without any updates we can be guaranteed certain they're no longer working on it! Wube took the money and ran! and i'm sure their competition (Minecraft!) will do much better in the...

This thread does not prohibit spoilers.
I have hidden things that I really don't want to disclose, such as detailed builds of arcospheres.
I'll add a spoiler notation.
indeed, thank you! i was just dumb. nothing major lost.

haha i should have known to expect spoilers in this thread (after all, it's a finished base) but could you perhaps mark it as such in the primary title so that other fools like myself don't accidentally peek things we're not ready for yet? also free to say no, i respect your choices too.

Re: Factorio is coming to Nintendo Switch™

Wouldn't this then result in the switch user downloading a mod, to restart the game and then get told "oops, sorry there, but you can't use this one"? Or I suppose it could check before restarting, but I don't think there's currently anything in place for it to be able to read this kind o...

Re: Factorio is coming to Nintendo Switch™

Guys, Nintendo Switch is ARM. Does that mean ARM factorio (at least servers, maybe clients) are an option now? And HOW THE HECK did you manage to achieve determinism between ARM and x86?! IEEE 754 has been around since the 90s. lol. any platform that conforms to this already guarantees the results ...

Re: Factorio is coming to Nintendo Switch™

The problem here is, how do you tell them all apart? it's trivial to mark prototypes as read-only, not allowing new graphics assets to be loaded at data stage time. it's also trivial to mark mods as incompatible if they use control stage (e.g., lua runtime scripting) features in control.lua so, dat...
