They are almost certainly pathing around the lake; to my knowledge there is no path limit. If there is a limit, it is much larger than the distance around that lake.

Are you sure that they are the same version? It could be dependent on a different version.

This sounds like it could be performance heavy: the map icons already add ~1 ms to update time without merging.
