Reduce Green Coral Health

Post by xnmo »

Currently Green Coral has the same amount of health as trees, and it takes just as long to chop up as a living one (twice as long as a dead tree) and all you get is one measly wood. You shouldn't get any wood from coral but I digress :P

If you spawn in a desert that has a lot of the stuff it gets real tedious very quickly with that stuff but necessary if you want access to the minerals underneath, room for your factory and just to walk around without bumping into it constantly. If you spawn in a forest I don't have a problem with that as 1, you get five times as much usable resources and trees are pretty useful early on for chests and fuel, and 2, you kind of instinctively understand that if you want to build your factory in the middle of a forest, you'll have to cut down a few trees ;)

But coral? Come on, you should be able to plop down your buildings right on top of the stuff :) And if you spawn in a desert, you expect to have lots of room with little to no clearing needed, which makes it more annoying.

So yeah, coral should have its hp at least halved, or reduced further to 10 or 5 hp IMO. And also quarter or eighth its mining time.

Cool suggestion: Eatable MOUSE-pointers.

Yeah, I don't recall green coral either, but then I don't often play in a desert.

Green corals are real, and they are very annoying indeed.

Ah! so, I never had the luck to have dessert around me since some worlds (May?).

Green corals can be mixed in forests in grassy areas. Atleast thats how I run in to them. I tried to clear forest with poison capsules and was suprised to find them standing there.

Don't forget grenades. I've lobbed more grenades at trees than biters. The combat shotgun is also effective. If you are into mods there is the explosive termites mod that will destroy trees/coral with extreme prejudice.

RE: Reducing the health of them: Unless there's a separate data field for how much damage something does to a vehicle, I would say the HP needs to stay as is, or be increased even.
Have you seen the damage coral will do to tires?
