Deconstruction planner - strange behavior

Post by EmuLegs »

Deconstruction planner seems to have some strange behavior
When i tell it to only target Trees and Rocks (but no cliffs or fish)

Image

It seems to want to destroy everything BUT trees and rocks

Feels like the Trees and Rocks box is connected to the WhiteList and BlackList in a strange way ?

Thanks for the report however it's connected to the whitelist/blacklist in exactly the way a whitelist/blacklist functions and is doing exactly as expected.
If you want to get ahold of me I'm almost always on Discord.

I still think that "whitelist" / "blacklist" on decon planners should be "deconstruct" / "ignore".
Makes it much clearer what it does and how it interacts wtih "trees rocks only".

But I wrote that in a suggestion which gets ignored by the devs for a bad reason:
the original suggestion was using political correctness as a justificaton to rename, but I disagree with that reasoning.

This report shows that I am not the only person being confused by the meaning of "whitelist" / "blacklist" for decon planners.

Think about Strafe-jumping (bunny hopping), what was clearly a bug felt like a feature and as a result added to the game.
the same thing can happen in reverse, even if it's not a bug, if it feels like a bug the game could feel less polished or worse :(
