Hi,
when queueing two related inserters in the inventory e.g. 1. Inserter, 2. Fast inserter, the Normal inserter won't be produced but automatically used for producing the fast inserter. A workaround is to change the order of the queue to 1. Fast Inserter, 2. Inserter. I think this is also related to every other product chain.

[0.5.3] Problem when queueing two related products
Re: [0.5.3] Problem when queueing two related products
You should Update the current Version is 0.6.1
Re: [0.5.3] Problem when queueing two related products
Ok. Thanks for the info.
Re: [0.5.3] Problem when queueing two related products
Regardless, I don't think this behavior ever changed. Crafting a recipe will always use the most advanced ingredients available or currently queued.
Maybe the crafting could try to avoid using items in the hotbar as ingredients.

Re: [0.5.3] Problem when queueing two related products
At the moment this is an intentional feature:)
Re: [0.5.3] Problem when queueing two related products
Hmm. Can you tell me about your intention behind this feature? I like it that products in your inventory will be used when crafting new items however I find it confusing that this also applies to products which are only queued for crafting.
Re: [0.5.3] Problem when queueing two related products
The reason for this was consistent implementation. When intermediate products are crafted the product at the end of the queue takes stuff from things in the queue as well. Also what you have in the crafting queue "sort of is" (will be) in the inventory anyway.
I understand why this can be confusing. It sometimes happens to me as well. Let's say I need to build some pipes and a steam engine. I craft something let's say 3 pipes and then I go to craft the steam engine and the pipes are gone. Bummer But it is a similar situation as if I have 3 pipes already in the inventory and I am like: "ok let's make a steam engine and we are good to go". But when I craft the steam engine the pipes are gone as well.

Re: [0.5.3] Problem when queueing two related products
Thanks for the clarification.
For me, this behaviour isn't related to the other case. I would aspect that manually queueing products for crafting will craft all products that I wanted to and queued products aren't related to eachother.
I also think that there is no reason to queue an ordinary inserter and a smart inserter when it will automatically used to build the smart inserter. So in fact it has to be a different behaviour.

Re: [0.5.3] Problem when queueing two related products
This doesn't solve the problem, but may help: When I'm building smart inserters I always build some normal afterwards. The same with pipes, wheels etc. so that I always have in my inventory. After a while for me this becomes a good habit.
Cool suggestion: Eatable MOUSE-pointers.

Re: [0.5.3] Problem when queueing two related products
Yes, after experiencing this behaviour I also changed the ordering when producing related stuff.
