Inserters not inserting items when they should be

Hello everyone, I have a save file here where I have a factory automating red and green science packs where the inserters are not inserting items like they should be. There are clearly open item slots and the inserters are simply not doing their job. I have had this issue a few times across multiple saves and it seems that the issue will resolve itself after a very long time.

This is not a bug. The inserters won't insert any more items until the finished products (science packs) are removed from the assembler, this is by design.
They also won't insert the science packs into the lab as the lab already contains enough of them.

I would recommend you place the science packs on a belt with green science on one side and red on the other, and then feed that belt to the labs. This way you have a buffer between science pack production and consumption.

Ah, thank you for clarifying. Also I took your advice and set up a conveyor system for the red and green science packs.
