About RTS remote, the CTRL+Left Click have an unexpected behavior for me :
it should invert selection of what it selects (more than remove from selection), it's what i see most of the time, and it's very powerful combined with the SHIFT+Left click to add.
Other point :
In the fff-404 example, there is always space in the target location to move and keep the units in formation. How about obstacles in the path or at the destination ? Will it move the full shape/formation to preserve it, or change the shape/formation to go the nearest to destination ?

Great changes!!
I thought that adding player pipetting could be useful for the repair tool, as it's something you want to do quickly and would free up one of the inventory slots.

Is it possible to line them out? Or to put them in formations?
Apologies if this has already been answered, I've skipped over all the replies and I'm in a hurry at the moment.

The blueprint grid tweaking hotkeys are going to be awesome!!! I started always designing my blueprints to be 32 by 32 so that I know exactly where it will be on the grid, but now I can easily be more free form!!

Re: Friday Facts #404 - Frustration not found
Could have some form of "double click on a spidertron, select all of that color (maybe triple click to select all on the map, not just all in view).BoxWithoutATop wrote: βFri Mar 29, 2024 12:38 pm One suggestion I do have is: Why not make the spidertrons selectable by color?
Re: Friday Facts #404 - Frustration not found
Great!
When making the grid position of the blueprint, could we just draw them on the blueprint? And maybe have a preview that shows where adjacent blueprints would be placed when we change grid position. Although thinking about it, I have never tried to draw bounds, so maybe it is already in game?
Edit: I imagine we could have areas on the border, where if we would mouse over them, it would show the closest blueprint ghost. Like if you mouse over left bound of the blueprint, it would show how it would look if you placed blueprint aligned to the left. And with each sidde and corner.

Please allow the RTS Tool to also control trains. My personal train, my artillery train, my big artillery train, my builder train, all the trains!
Re: Friday Facts #404 - Frustration not found
I assumed they were talking about Fulgora. https://factorio.com/blog/post/fff-398 :
As day breaks, the sun glistens off the dark substance below the plateaus's cliffs. The surface seems to be a dark churning layer of oil mixed with sand. This is not a pristine new world after all, this is an already polluted one.
You descend the plateau into the dark shifting terrain. The disgusting tar-like mixture sticks to your feet. The oil is not so deep that you cannot walk through it, but the soft sand below forces you to keep moving.

Pipette spidertron to get remote.
(but this may be an issue since we already expect a spidertron from pipetting a spidertron)
---------------
About blueprints : can the absolute base number be the one it was currently on the ground when you blueprinted it ?
So if you blueprint, check absolute, then hover it should match perfectly whith what you copied...

Re: Friday Facts #404 - Frustration not found
May I request a feature: a checkbox "Request only from storage chests" for requester and buffer chests? Now it's extremely hard to automatically dispose of stuff inside your storage chests, I even had to replace all my passive provider with buffer chests, which means I can't use buffer chests the way they are intended to.

Yes, the BEST suggestion for pipette! Devs, look at it!Molay wrote: βFri Mar 29, 2024 1:46 pm Like that, but Q once works like now, hold Q to show a list of related entities as OP suggested. (Could be alt-Q, shift Q, ...)
Example group:
- Rails
- Signal
- Chain signal
- Train Stop
- Train
The groups are likely equal to the "crafting rows" in the crafting menu. They are a group of relevant items/entities.
Then Holding Q is "I want something like that, but not that exactly."
Mockup:
Hold Q over signal brings up this menu.
The menu is locked in place while Q is held. (If player hovers over something else, it doesn't bring new Q menu while Q is held.)
A player can click the item they want to have in their cursor.
The number is how many they have in their inventory.

Spidertron remote' as the new 'RTS Tool'
I don't like this name change at all, specifically because it would make no sense to new players (especially if they never played RTS games). I have played some RTS games, but I don't consider that a personal vehicle would need an "RTS Tool". I prefer the "Remote Control" naming.
