Free Red/Green wire when placing ghost

I was playing around with blueprints prior to researching robotics. Placing a blue print on top of items you have placed manually will give you free red/green wire. This is easy to test; start a new game, do research up to "Circuit network", place two chests and connect them with red wire. Blueprint the chests and wire, place two chests, place blueprint ghosts over chests, chests are now connected with red wire and your inventory of red wire is not reduced.

Maybe it's the same, my point was not only were the wires free but there were no bots to put them.

Well re-building a complicated circuit layout by manually hand-copying the blue-print would really be a pain otherwise. I view the free wire as worth the convenience factor.
