In the new location, I was just about to build a water pump, decided to prune some trees, game crashed just as I started cutting down a tree. This doesn't look like the cause, probably just coincidence of timing.
Had no problems in this scenario prior. Just had a lot of fun building an unreasonable number of burner inserters (who needs electricity!?).
Overall in 0.17 I've noticed issues around keyboard input becoming unresponsive (usually at the very start of a game). I have been restarting (hold down power button to shut off laptop and restart since could not even alt tab). Works fine after a reboot. Is likely unrelated but I mention it just in case it isn't. Hadn't experienced this problem with 0.16.51 which I was playing when 0.17 came out. Love 0.17 by the way. Love <3
