Hello,
i have the game on steam but i want to use multiple copies because i want the ability to play on other multiplayer servers without constantly having to toggle mods on my main game for myself.
so i wanted to look into running multiple copies on my computer with different mods installed for each copy.
i tried looking through the application directory wiki and that is extremely unhelpful.
the directions in the config-path file probably make sense to some people, but make zero sense to me.
i tried changing that to:
use-system-read-write-data-directories=true
and in the /config/config.cfg file i set it to this:
[path]
read-data=F:\Factorio
write-data=F:\Factorio
but... no joy.
and nothing helps. it still keeps using my windows directory for mods/saves.
this may be a limitation of steam where it launches the game it has "configured" for that game, but i just would want confirmation.
if you cant do this with Steam version, i guess i will be screwed for multiplayer servers.

Re: Multiple Copies Help [STEAM]
You can link your steam account to our website,
Which will let you donwload the DRM free .zip copy,
Which makes it a lot easier to manage multiple copies of the game

Re: Multiple Copies Help [STEAM]
will that zipped file be able to get setam functions and achievments then?
Re: Multiple Copies Help [STEAM]
You posted this a while ago, but in case you don't know yet: The non-steam version doesn't get steam achievements. It does track them locally though, so in game you can get them.smeagol001 wrote:will that zipped file be able to get setam functions and achievments then?
Re: Multiple Copies Help [STEAM]
You don't get Steam achievements when playing with mods anyway ... so it shouldn't matter for playing on modded servers.
