What is the most useless thing in the Factorio. What do you think?

I think that most useless are landmines. They need explosives available in the intermediate stage of the game when you have tons of the laser turrets. Their damage isn't very high, and they need constant replacing.

I used nearly a dozen BMD's to get going. It really speeds up the game especialy when back to back mining coal.

Usually 6 on coal, 4 on iron, 2 on copper...and 1 on stone.

I started to use them when multiplayer was released.... as a jumpscare.

if we are talking about items.. the items that are not usable are obv the most useless.
discharge is useless.

but the title says thing... the exit button on the main menu, i never click it.

Grenades are very effective against small bitters. So killing fist nests is a lot easier with them.
I don't even remember what Discharge defense does

AP bullets, that are unlocked by the same tech are even more effective and work well even if biters attack in steady stream rather than one concentrated group.

Most useless stuff is in the military section. I never use flamethrowers, landmines and discharge
defense. However I DO use the rocket launcher and grenades (against dense nests and trees) as
well as tanks.

Some things aren't useful for long but for a limited time they are. This includes burner mining drills
and grenades. On the other hand the flame thrower immediately comes with a ton of alternatives,
requires a lot of dedicated research itself, is very close range and still doesn't do any significant
damage.

I like that there is variety but imho there should be some sort of rock-paper-scissor damage variation
going on. So maybe flame throwsers could be particularly effective against spitters, while explosive
amunition also stuns biters for a few seconds etc. And I'm not talking about a 5% bonus, I mean
noticable differences in weapon efficiency. I could even immagine a weapon specifically designed
for taking down nests that does very little damage to anything else (I originally assumed that to be
the purpose of flame throwers but they suck at that as well…).

I don't think a burner inserter is useless. Near my boilers I have a few chests filled with useless wood with the burner inserters next to it. If for some reason I am out of coal and the boilers can't work, I can easily connect the transport belt so the boilers get filled with wood and I have electric again. So I can look for new coal.
It is good to have a kind of a backup system for the electric that isn't dependent on electric.

B52? That is also mine!

Many bar keepers cannot make it. The best was in a hotel bar in Karlsruhe: the barkeeper needs three tries to make it burn. I could "test" his misses, I never was so drunk after one B52.

First I used Handgrenades to remove forests, then I realized: Oh, you cannot built on craters, screw that! Now I use construction robots to get rid of forests, it's way better.

I sometimes use Rocketlaunchers against early worms, they're quite useful.

Landmines/Discharge defense. If those things got removed nobody would even notice. Flamethrower is useless too.
