new splitter / slider idea
Here's a new slider idea that I couldn't find in the forums. This can be attached with it's own tech as well sometime after the splitter tech. This would help reduce the clutter caused from belts going all over the place trying to organize the resources.

Re: new splitter / slider idea
Weigh the cost of adding 9 new game objects (RHS, LHS, Balancer @ Normal, Fast and Express) against the fact that we can already achieve these outcomes with a small number of belts. This is absolutely not needed in the base game. If you want to make this as a mod, feel free. If you don't want to make the mod yourself there is a section for requesting mods.

This is extremely useful in very tight spots reducing spaghetti belts. It's a lot neater using this. If you don't want to use these, then you don't have to research that particular tech for it. Normally, to achieve this you need two splitter and a few belts that turns out being same as 25 belts and extra spaces utilized. Like I said, one of these sliders eliminates mess.

Re: new splitter / slider idea
I like this idea. Having splitters and belts just to use both halves of a belt on most setups is a bit silly.
Waste of bytes : P

I think this has been suggested times before.
But the devs are not going to add something in which you can do already.
--------

This layout puts the items on one side.
And this one will balance it.

Well it could just be made into a "Smart Splitter" where you can actually program what you want it to do
-Load balance (put more resources on one lane more than the other)
-Switch resources on the other lane
-Block off a single lane
An example of it would be like "<part> on the right <part2> on the left. The one thing I like about this idea is the fact you could use it to block off one lane and you can place the one side on either of the other side.
-Copper wire-----------[Smart splitter] ---Empty -----------
-Electronic Circuit --- [Smart splitter] ---Copper wire-----
One suggestion with this would be colour ordinate the sides so you don't need to use orientation (left/right) to figure it out.
-Copper wire----------> [Green Smart splitter] ---Empty ----------->
Electronic Circuit ---> [Red Smart splitter] ---Copper wire-->
-Copper wire-----------<-[Red Smart splitter] <---Empty ---------
Electronic Circuit ---<- [Green Smart splitter] <---Copper wire------

You got it wrong.NeoForce wrote:This is extremely useful in very tight spots reducing spaghetti belts. It's a lot neater using this. If you do really want you-called-neat factories, make and install it as a mod
+ install many more mods to overcome what you seem to percive as rough edges.
May I recommend the 90° inserter and variable-length inserter mods?
