thank you for highlighting it for me, I didn't realize how well adjusted are the actual in-game graphics - it must have been a lot of work getting it this nice!!

Re: Factorio needs to be brighter (w/ images and source code)
I too am having problems with the dark graphics.
If I apply this program, what happens when Factorio updates?
1. Do I then have to re-run it? Or do I have to restore the original graphics before updating?
2. Same with mods. When a mod updates its graphics, what happens / what do we need to do?
Thanks for this mod!

+1 for brigther daytime graphics.
I am not sure about the nighttime graphics. No one knows how bright the lamps are. and this one lamp in your picture looks like it emmits sun grade brightness. I dont like that.
But the daytime should be as bright as you show it in your pictures.

And now I can't use SweetFX because Factorio uses DirectX instead of OpenGL on Windows.
Re: Factorio needs to be brighter (w/ images and source code)
Factorio's always used DirectX by default (as it generally provides better performance) - you can force it to use OpenGL with the launch option "--force-opengl".
There are 10 types of people: those who get this joke and those who don't.

For 5KW light source i'd say it very much possible to be as bright as sun (and even brighter). And no one really knows how bright the sun on Planet Factorio.Impatient wrote: ↑Mon Dec 03, 2018 1:44 am +1 for brigther daytime graphics.

I'd say this post illustrates the untouched topic of having different weather and lighting conditions in Factorio on different days. For example, i'd like it to be this bright sometimes, darker sometimes (rain/overcast) and different hue sometimes (eclipse, light from another star/satellite) in day or night-time. Having it also fully adjustable would be a total blast.
And, tada, it requires only a set of simple shader modifications.

Sounds like the topic needs renaming from "Factorio needs to be brighter" to "Factorio needs a gamma slider".
And with less dubious software to painstakingly rewrite all your images when you could just fiddle with the colour curves in your display settings instead. (There's a way to get to this in Windows, I forget where it is though. It lets you make your whole screen any tint you want.)
I like it as it is, personally.

Well, there's always the monitor settings...
(Hopefully you can save pre-sets!)
