hold shift, to skip loading mods?

Ideas that are too old (too many things have changed since) and ones which won't be implemented for certain reasons or if there are obviously better suggestions.

hold shift, to skip loading mods?

Post by distortions864 »

Being able to easily skip loading any mods on boot would be great.
Something as simple as "hold shift key", so it just loads vanilla or acts as a safe mode if there is a borked mod.

Its annoying when your last game was modded, but you are loading up vanilla and have to wait for all mods to load to disable them.

Honestly, it would be even better if it just loaded the mods when you connect to a server or loaded a save...
It would kill the need to load factorio twice or three times (to sync mod settings from servers).

Does the menu system really need to load all that to function?

As the game is written yes.

Otherwise you pay the performance cost that you do at startup every time you load a save file or connect to a server.
If you want to get ahold of me I'm almost always on Discord.
