Creative Mode - help please

I used to use ore eraser when I wanted to delete ore but it doesn't seem to work now, so let us try Creative Mode.
But when I tried the mod I could not figure out how to remove the ore without messing up the terrain. I would like to be able to do two things when I'm messing around and they are.
- delete an ore patch or oil area.
- add in ore or oil in normal or infinite fields.
And not change the terrain so if while creating I make the area wrong I'd like to undo some and have back the terrain it had minus stuff like rocks and trees mostly just interested in terrain.

That it. I know creative mode has many cool features and stuff but I just wish now to learn how to play with ore and oil.
Now I am not sure if this feature "Creative Mode" is in game or a mod or both now?

Just tested it, Ore eraser works in 0.18.18 in editor mode. (/editor on command line)

Anyone else want to help me with creative mode and how I do those things I listed above?
