I don't want to see instantaneous fluid transmission in this game. That just feels wrong and doesn't go with anything else in this game (with the exception of power transmission).
I'm not sure if most of the players think the same. Would you say "you all play it wrong"?

Re: Fluid Mechanics Still Broken, 6 Years Later?

I think most players don't play in the way you described. They play not "until the rocket" or "until XXX SPM", but "I expand the factory until I start new game". There's no concrete final plan for many players. But let's assume the player plays just to launch the rocke...

Re: Fluid Mechanics Still Broken, 6 Years Later?

But yea, as others wrote already... just make more fluid than is drained; then it will hardly be an issue. No, there's no such state in the game "I have enough of ...". If your factory expands, you always, always lack of some components. "Just produce more of" is a tem...

Re: Euclidean Algorithm for Greatest Comon Divisor (GCD)

How convenient are setups that deliver results over an undetermined number of tics? I speak not about the detecting that result is ready, but about synchronizing with other data signals that can change over the time. In other words, such function cannot be pipelined (unless linearized).

Re: add new signal RGB (Friday Facts #388)

Let's get full color signals first :) Why are you suggesting CMYK, a space for printers, as a format for lamps? I did not suggest CMYK for lamps. I mentioned CMYK just as example, that other color spaces are also very simple for some people, and the "simpleness" is a false impression and ...

If I remove an outpost, I need to remove its trains as well. Otherwise I risk a deadlock.
I have a parking depot for temporarily unused trains.

Re: add new signal RGB (Friday Facts #388)

using rgb/hsv instead of hcl is like living in a world where proportional fonts never were popularized by system designers. There is a subtle difference: color picker is a tool for creating colors, not for looking at. Once color was chosen (or proportional font was created), everyone are happy. HCL...

So my vote is RGB + HSL, for lamps (8 bit/channel or lower). And color picker as well, but I don't really need a color picker personally so it's whatever to me.
Thank you for your vote.

Well, do we want full color signals, whatever encoding? :)

Re: add new signal RGB (Friday Facts #388)

You're right, you didn't say it was "popular". It *IS* popular regardless of who said what. Do you see the forest through the trees (not a question). I'm sorry I quoted you, let's start with my "sRGB is unnatural". Our color perception (not eye's RGB sensitivity) is very differe...

Re: add new signal RGB (Friday Facts #388)

It's not a shame that people use RGB, and it's not evil. It isn't the best for interpolating or picking color/component values. But it is what displays output and a common format for stored files. It's technically simple and the natural go-to format for storing and outputting color as.[..] But afte...

Re: add new signal RGB (Friday Facts #388)

for the love of love, use hcl rather than hsv: it looks good. This is an important point. RGB is unnatural hardware level color representation, it's a shame that people still use it. People used to use RGB and nobody cares this is an evil colorspace. Once you are familiar with HCL and CIELAB, have ...

Re: Friday Facts #395 - Generic interrupts and Train stop priority

There are so many possibilities and nuances using trains. It's easy to miss some non-obvious trick, and many new players will wonder after a while: "is that even allowed???". I think all the train related stuff (short descriptions with links) should be collected to a single page so players...

it looks like there already is some kind of mechanism to prevent you from overwriting a saved game:
There is no warning if you overwrite the same game file (the same seed), which is valid action. Nobody knows have you mistyped or not.
