Lower gravity on most of the planets

Not using the template because this is a simple one. Suggested ballpark values: Vulcanus: 15 m/s² (down from 40) Gleba: 8 m/s² (down from 20) Aquilo: 5 m/s² (down from 15) This is just an aesthetic suggestion because I don't think that values of gravity greater than 1 m/s² affect anything, but I saw...

Re: Setting inserter filters takes one click more than it should

I've really felt this on space platforms and Gleba.

Re: Display Aquilo heating value in tooltips

Haven't gotten to Aquilo yet but the tooltips already change between planets (most notably, pollution isn't shown outside of Nauvis), so this seems like it should be doable from a UI intelligibility perspective. That said, it absolutely makes sense that pipes buried in ice would need more heating th...

Pin technologies you can currently research by performing actions (ie not in a lab)

TL;DR I want the UI to show me plainly if I can currently research technologies by crafting or mining. What? Concept art of someone who just landed on Vulcanus, with the first technologies pinned to the UI: pinned technologies.png It should on by default, but toggleable for anyone who already knows...

Nice to have more QoL. The more time flies, the more I appreciate QoL.
Echoing both these sentiments. Nothing exciting, but very very welcome nonetheless.

Re: Friday Facts #416 - Fluids 2.0

Something like that would introduce new flavors of jank of course, but it'd be predictable jank that could be understood intuitively. Here's hoping we get something like this! excuse me, why do you WANT jank in a game like this? it is already painful enough to have to run two pipes of the SAME flui...

Re: Friday Facts #416 - Fluids 2.0

Just to brainstorm some ideas of varying levels of awful: Total output from a segment is limited. The limit can correlate with the number of entities in the segment. Budgets can be separate for consumers and pumps. ... Of these, (1) seems most promising and trivially easy to implement. It can mimic...

Re: Friday Facts #416 - Fluids 2.0

For what it's worth, as much as I'm annoyed by losing interesting pipe behavior, that's far more than offset by finally dealing with all the jank that shows up in any non-trivial plumbing setup. Even if this update is all we ever get on fluids (which we've been told it isn't) this is still a big imp...

Re: Friday Facts #416 - Fluids 2.0

Kinda bummed that pipes seem to be losing throughput restrictions but overall this seems like a much more manageable, reliable, and efficient system than the old fluid simulation. Not sad to see that go! I had a thought of how long pipes could have lowered throughput with the new system, something p...

Re: Friday Facts #414 - Spoils of Agriculture

You probably don't need me to tell you this, but gardening (in real life) involves a lot of intentionally getting things to "spoil" (compost) because it greatly enhances the fertility/viability/nutrition of plant life. Of course, this is Factorio, not real life, but I think it makes sense...

Re: Friday Facts #414 - Spoils of Agriculture

I was surprised that mashing fruits only yields solid products, rather than any liquid juice. I figure fluids don't play well with the new spoilage system, but everything about Gleba screams to be covered in a mass of labyrinthine pipes! The biochambers especially seem kin to the chemical plants. Pl...

Oh man this is really good stuff! I haven't played a lot of multiplayer, but the car latency was noticable when I did, so it's good to see that get smoothed out.

Re: Friday Facts #406 - Space Age Music

Coming back to this, man the electric crackling on Fulgora (from the lightning charging the lightning rods) is way too loud for something that plays nearly constantly. That sound effect could stand to have its volume reduced by like 3/4, though worst case scenario I could just edit the file on my end.

Re: Friday Facts #406 - Space Age Music

I doubt it's intentional because the resemblance is pretty slight, but the first half of the mystery planet music reminds me of the title theme to Ecco: the Tides of Time but in a major key. Maybe I'm just Ecco-brained, though. Even stronger vibes of Glassworks, particularly Island and Facades but w...

Taking a close look at the map, I spy some dots that look the color of biters (easiest to find are at the top left) :{}

I'd venture any mobs would be robotic.

Re: Friday Facts #399 - Trash to Treasure

Fun stuff, and very tickled that all the stuff that was hinted at last week is real. Looking at the scrap recycling products, I'm reminded of how the advanced electric poles all use copper plates instead of wires. That was always kinda weird, but it seems like it'd be a lot more jarring on Fulgora. ...

Re: Get rid of barrels and all barrel-related content

I've used barrels of heavy oil to kickstart coal liquefaction at times, and I've used sulfuric acid barrels extensively in all four full games I've played. I have a have a hard time imagining a reason to barrel water or petrogas, but barreled H2SO4, heavy oil, and lube all have pretty obvious uses t...

Re: Friday Facts #305 - The Oil Changes

I haven't been playing for a while so I feel like it's out of my lane to complain, but I really really don't like removing heavy and light oil completely from the green science tier, or requiring water/steam piping to generate them. Among other reasons, being able to craft solid/rocket fuel with onl...
