Factorio Multiplayer on version 12.26

Me and my friend have been attempting to start multiplayer after not playing it in a while and in version 12.26 it seems the multiplayer is more or less unplayble. We have managed to establish a connection with hamachi, but when it comes to having my friend connect to the map the upload starts out find, but them proceeds to approach abysmal speeds, and there download at a rate much faster than my upload reaches and eta of 0 and download speed of 0. I have no clue whats going on with it.
