Factorio failing to start from steam

Hi, factorio just doesn't launch from steam, always throws an 'Unpexted error ocurred'. After messing round with appdata etc, and finding no logs I got this from the command 'cmd /k %command%':

   0.000  Error SteamContext.cpp:15: Steam API could not be initialized.
   0.000  Error Util.cpp:78: Unexpected error occurred. You can help us to solve the problem by posting the contents of the log file on the Factorio forums.

All my other steam games seem to launch fine, and non-steam factorio also works.

Thank you for the log! I was waiting for someone to reproduce it with opened command prompt, you are the best.

As for the error, people usually report it get fixed by itself. I think first you should try restart Steam or reboot computer, if that doesn't help try to uninstall the game, restart Steam and install it again. I am going to figure out now what is causing this and how to prevent it.
