Hey cube! You know, the only thing worse than an UDP joke is a TCP joke.
Did you get it?

Friday Facts #136 - Map Transfers
Re: Friday Facts #136 - Map Transfers
Hi,
since 12.31 Update i almost always have Problems with map Downloads by the clients connecting to my Server.
Its not just slow... it breaks down to 0kb/s and doesnt ever continue.
It works after a downgrade to 12.30, but every Version since 12.31 has this Problem with map-downloads.
It almost Looks like there is an error in the implemention of the "new" error-control.
Any help?
Btw Server is Windows and i tried several (also Default) port configurations
Thanks

Re: Friday Facts #136 - Map Transfers
- You can do NAT punching in TCP...
- What issues would TCP cause when downloading from multiple clients?
- Why in the WORLD would you reimplement TCP yourself in UDP, rather than using one of the dozens of existing libraries that already do that!?
Re: Friday Facts #136 - Map Transfers
Well clearly it isn't fixed.
I can't join any game, my speed quickly drops to 0 and all my friends starts complaining.
I have 60/10 Mbs speed...
I tried port forwarding, the non-steam version, the steam version, admin mode, resetting my router, lowering my MTU... dunno what to do now.

in fact u have do INCREASE the MTU to at least 1500 on all devices on the way (Server, router, Proxy....)

This is entirely too late to be of any use, but I still thought the concept of TCP simultaneous open would be of interest: https://rachelbythebay.com/w/2013/06/29/sim/
