Need advice on dedicated servers (20+ players)

Hi,

I've been running a server successfully for the past few weeks (redlabel & mewmew) but the servers become too unstable after 20-25 players usually.

I've used nc1.eu and low.ms and got a Factorio server. But I'm considering to get something more powerful and I want to know it will make a difference.

I don't really need more than 8gb of RAM really, but SSD is nice and I'm particularly concerned about CPU. My current providers don't let me meter the CPU usage so I cannot be sure what the problem is. I don't want to be paying extra if it will not solve anything.

Any ideas? Will getting my own box help? Will additional CPU cores help?

I guess it has to do with bugs in Factorio.

In .14, there were games with 100+ players without problems on mediocre servers. So i guess once 0.15 stabilizes the problems will be gone.

sometimes its just a small mod causeing errors. lets check it on our servers
