I bought Factorio about a week ago and I am having problems playing it. I was playing for around 30 min to a hour, and my computer freezes. I restarted my computed and laucnched Factorio again. After a little while of gameplay it crashed my computer. I have completely wiped my computer and reinstalled Factorio and I am still getting the same problem.
My computer is a Lenovo Y580 with an Intel Core i7-3630QM @ 2.40 GHz. It has Windows 8 64 bit with 16 GB of ram. My GPU is a Nvidia GEFORCE GTX 660M. I hope this is enough information and I can start playing again. Thanks in advance!

Sounds for me very, very like overheating. I had once a Lenovo 500 and they tend to have those problems. Have you tried to clean your fans inside? Maybe Ice-spray to find out, which part it is... Or just throttling? That was my solution.
Cool suggestion: Eatable MOUSE-pointers.

If an application crashes not just itself, but the computer, then to me it looks like a driver problem....
I have no idea what I'm talking about.

Thanks a lot ssilk! After cleaning out my fan and turning down some settings on my computer, it worked! So once again, thank you and I hope it will keep working!

Since you are a laptop user and most laptops doesen't like games that are running on maximum FPS I recomend you turn on Low FPS setting in game options. This should lock your game FPS to about 30 FPS and reduce the load on your graphics card quite a bit which would mean that the graphic card won't be heating so much.HypenauticPulse wrote:Thanks a lot ssilk! I'm a laptop user myself and I use the mentioned option to keep my laptop graphics card cool.
