[0.15.34] personal robots get tasks when far away

Post by Boogieman14 »

In this game, I placed a blueprint several minutes before the time of this save. A few items weren't immediately placed, nor did they trigger a notification from either personal or regular roboport. After a while I see a bunch of robots crawl into view (this was literally 5+ minutes after placing the blueprint, I left the game running while I started this post), hit me up for recharging and then place the missing items. So it appears some robots get assigned to my personal roboport, then I travel out of reach while they're on their way back and even though they're far away, they still get tasks assigned. This may or may not be an actual bug, but it's at least somewhat confusing. Perhaps if robots were assigned to the personal roboport and they get more than a certain distance (500?) away from the player, they should behave as if the roboport they belonged to was removed/disabled and simply travel to the nearest roboport instead of following the player to the other side of the world :)

I don't have OCD, I have CDO. It's the same, but with the letters in the correct order.

I do not understand yet, what makes you come to the conclusion that the robots got the task while out of port range.

Observation :)

Sequence of events just before that save:
1. I arrive by train
2. I place the blueprint
3. robots (from personal robotport) place most objects
4. a few (3 or 4) don't get placed straight away, so I placed the extra roboport to see if that triggers anything
5. 5+ minutes later, a handful of robots float into view, charge at my personal roboport and place the missing items

I think you misunderstand what is happening in your save, the robots returning never got "assigned" to your personal roboport, you lost them when building something previously and they are simply returning to you. NaB until someone can show robots taking jobs outside of port range.

Yes, I realize I lost the previously (that's pretty much what I said in my original post). But now explain why they're accepting a task (inside personal roboport range) while they themselves are miles away at that time?

Actually, I don't even care what's really happening. Fact is, it takes 5+ minutes for the game to build the blueprint, without any kind of notification. That sounds very much like a bug to me.

Now I understand what you mean, the only thing preventing a robot from getting an order is already performing one, so this behaviour is expected. There are efforts to improve job allocation, but right now this is working as intended.
