Green power is for the weak!
Green power is for the weak!
on this play through i decided not to use any solar or accumulators at all. i ended up using roughly 80 steam engines, mainly to power the lasers xD but yeah pretty fun play through a nice challenge with the constant attacks but nothing a few lasers and walls couldn't fix. this was after about 13 hours of play time and i only onc death at the moment because i jumped out of a train, moving at the slowest speed ever recorded by mankind xD
Re: Green power is for the weak!
i prefer spam solar panels , in my base i have 811 solar panels
Re: Green power is for the weak!
in my current game I'm also going for heavy pollution
My problem are not the biter attacks, even though now that the medium ones appeared, they cause some trouble... the main problem are my coal reserves. The coal in my starting area is gone, I have a lack of oil fields and there are too many big biter nests around. I hope my current coal mine lasts long enough to get some destroyer capsules ready.

Re: Green power is for the weak!
if you have low coal, you can use replacement solid fuel craft with heavy oil

Koub - Please consider English is not my native language.
Re: Green power is for the weak!
weird, aren't those pink patches on the map oilfields that I see (East, North and further down South-East of copper deposit, South and South-West of iron deposit)?
Re: Green power is for the weak!
thats what i did in this playthrough i went straight for solid fuel, all my power stations run off of it. i actually have too much oil on this xD iv had to stop the train between oil processing and the outpost as i have filled 20 tanks of crude oil as well as the other tanks leading from the refineries. fuel for days
Re: Green power is for the weak!
Well, my factory runs 100% on solar (3000 collectors and 4000 accus at the moment) but since I heavily make use of production and speed modules my pollution goes through the roof nevertheless
Re: Green power is for the weak!
ahh good point i forgot to mention that i have used a couple of speed modules i guess i should just put them in everything and see what the pollution levels would be like xD all though that would mess up timing with a lot of my assembly lines

On the last note i would never use Heavy oil for that. I rather split it and use light oil.Koub wrote:tetkris wrote:if you have low coal, you can use replacement solid fuel craft with heavy oilBleda wrote:I have a lack of oil fields
But even 6 depleated oil wells will create a good amount of solid fuel if all is converted each solid do provide over 3 times the burn time pr block.

That's 160 steam engines, so 80 megawatts of power, right?
Also, do you really need that much water?

WHAT PART OF OVER-BUILDER DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND?!Rahjital wrote:That's 160 steam engines, so 80 megawatts of power, right?

I was basically trying to force feed the system. Didn't have pumps to push the water along when I first built it. Lolz.
And yes, I do need that much energy. The ecosystem isn't going to choke itself now is it?
