And that is simply not true.Darthlawsuit wrote:Belts can only input so much into a factory at once. Bots can do infinite. Make it so only X number of bots can input/output from objects. Containers can allow a lot of input/output while factories can only do so many at a time.
1) bot speed is ultimately limited by recharges. You can only have so many bots in an area before they back up on the roboport and everything breaks down.
2) requester chests request only so many goods. Divide that by the time to transport said goods multiplied by robot cargo space and you have an upper limit for goods/s.
3) same deal for provider chests, another upper limit for goods/s.
Belts give you a fixed amount of goods/s no matter the distance. Bots give you items/ms. The further away the source of the items the slower the throughput.
So say the bot takes 3200 ticks (somewhat under a minute) to travel from povider to requester and back and recharge along the way. Then that would limit your throughput to 1 item per second per requester chest. How war would that be? How far can a bot travel in 3200 ticks including breaks for recharge?
