True Buildings Mod

Post by Phakx »

Yeah this is not a mod review. I just want to tell you some of my ideas i'm working on.

I want to create a mod with new recipies on every item and added some new intermediate items like screws, rubber and cableing.
It's like a more realistic and harder version of the vanilla type of game.
So for another example are the buildings. you can craft them only with metal and some eletronic parts. But where are the walls made of? I changed the recipe for the Assembling Machines so you need stone, metal and electronic circuits to build them.

This is what im doing for now.
I got some questions for the community. Is there anybody, who can create some entity models for me? Because i'm not good in using gimp, photoshop or paint
This would be a very very nice thing if someone would help me.
I hope that you give me some ideas and suggestions for my mod :)

PS: I'm from Germany. So sorry if i don't speak so well

Sounds interesting.
Can't help but point out that there are tons of buildings (especially industrial ones) that are metal-only construction.

Yeah i know that. Like the electric miner.
But i want to add some new buildings like a simple wood shelter for better storage and organize. to have more usage for wood. but first i'll finish the recipes.
I found the market. i can "steal" that building to change it into a new type of factory. like i wanted to add rubber for the cabling.
i don't know but is there a site with some building samples that i could use?

Actually, I was talking about IRL. Since you're calling this "True", I have to assume you were comparing to RL.

Hmm. Wood shed instead/in addition to wooden chests?
Or were you hoping to give some of the buildings a wooden exterior instead?
If the 2nd, do you have a plan for automating wood collection, or is it going to be extra low tech like the burner miner, so no one will want to use it in a blueprint later on?

There are a lot of places, but I'm certain that they would all need a decent amount of work to prep for use in Factorio.
I would suggest searching for terms like "free building assets" or "industrial buildings art" or something else along those lines.
Factorio has a somewhat unique art style for the resolution it plays at.
Most things I've seen that are even close have been much lower resolution.

Alternatively, you could try looking at some of the old Fallout graphics.
Style-wise, that's probably the closest I can come up with, though it's perspective is completely wrong.

Moved from suggestions due to obvious reasons
Cool suggestion: Eatable MOUSE-pointers.
