Fresh install looks for package core in /usr/share/factorio on Ubuntu

Post by hunstree »

Hi
I have downloaded this version: https://factorio.com/get-download/0.16.51/alpha/linux64 Generic Linux tar package
After download, I unpacked it into ~
But when I try to start it, I get this error:

Code: Select all

~/factorio/bin/x64$ ./factorio
0.000 Error Util.cpp:49: Error configuring paths: There is no package core in /usr/share/factorio. Deduced executable directory: /home/gabor/factorio/bin/x64, read data: __PATH__system-read-data__, write data: __PATH__system-write-data__

I tried to create a config.ini file where I could set the paths. I tried to place it next to the binary. It did not work. I tried to look up an existing config.ini in ~./.local/factorio; ~/.factorio, but these directories do not exist.
Any idea how to fix it?
I do not want to install Steam.

Can you post content of ~/factorio/config-path.cfg here?

There is no such file.
I opened the archive again and there is a config-path.cfg. So I deleted my factorio folder, and extracted the archive again into ~.

It works.
The problem was between the chair and the keyboard. :)
