Factorio Mac Multiplayer doesn't update

I bought Factorio for my friend and i to play together, i run it on pc and works just fine (i think), but when my friend goes to update Factorio on his mac, it gets about half way in during the update process and then says it can't with a pop up message and closes the game, any help or do we have to wait for a later update?

Just re-download the game from the website.

Sounds similar to my updater problems.

Sanity check: Has the executable been put in Applications? And was the internet connection working?

See what /Users/Mr Chips friend/Library/Application Support/factorio/factorio-current.log says, it might give more clues.
