Industrial Revolution 2 is incompatible with Alien Biomes
Industrial Revolution 2 is incompatible with Alien Biomes
Just a PSA to prevent the kind of time-wasting this guy went through; Industrial Revolution 2 and Alien Biomes are incompatible.

The author (thank you for the mod!) doesn't allow discussion on the mod page, and doesn't want to update the FAQ / description to include the incompatibility with extremely popular mods, so we all get this PSA instead.
Hope you all didn't get through most of a game only to discover no rubber trees!

Re: Industrial Revolution 2 is incompatible with Alien Biomes
I mean...it's not like he promised otherwise. He gave a list of mods it is compatible with. If you choose to go outside that list, obviously there aren't any guarantees.
Re: Industrial Revolution 2 is incompatible with Alien Biomes
Accurate.
However, AB is so popular with people (and seemingly innocuous given that it's visual / decorative) that I feel that it deserves special mention.
Re: Industrial Revolution 2 is incompatible with Alien Biomes
you should peruse the AB code and see how extensive it is. it has no control stage, but it messes with autoplace values and other data stage nonsense that make it hard to know whether it'll work with an overhaul.
Re: Industrial Revolution 2 is incompatible with Alien Biomes
I think I remeber some discussion about rubber trees.
Can you post your log or part of it with mod load order?
I vaguely remember there was a difference between windows vs linux that caused it to not spawn the trees for some people.
It might be a simple fix to add dependency in IR2 on alien biomes. You could try in your copy and if it helps it might get added to mod.
I'm playing this combination of mods and I have rubber trees.

Re: Industrial Revolution 2 is incompatible with Alien Biomes
In the github thread linked by @OP @Deadlock explicitly states that it's only a problem when AB loads after IR2. With default alphabetic order that wouldn't happen. My guess is that @OP is new to modded gaming, because load order shenanigans are always problematic and don't warrant extra FAQ entries.
I concur that's at least worth a try.

Re: Industrial Revolution 2 is incompatible with Alien Biomes
MacOS (potentially) and Linux (definitely) have case-sensitive filesystem, and this changes the mod load order across operating systems.
Re: Industrial Revolution 2 is incompatible with Alien Biomes
Isn't there some console command to instantly create an amount of something?
If so, all the OP has to do is generate 5 rubber wood.
From there he can use IR2's forestry to generate any amount of rubber wood.
The console command would disable achievements, but so do mods, don't they?

Re: Industrial Revolution 2 is incompatible with Alien Biomes
and remove the mods to sync those achievements to steam and unify the list.
but once you run a command there is no going back.

Maybe you could redirect all this dramatic energy to the author of AB instead, and ask whether the mod absolutely has to kill off trees and tiles from other mods.
Or you can add a dependency on AB to IR2's info.json to force the load order.
Or you can use the built-in starter kit options to give you some rubber wood from the get-go.
Or you can fix it with a console command.
Re: Industrial Revolution 2 is incompatible with Alien Biomes
they would just mark IR2 incompatible with AB, and leave it at that. Earendel wants to blow prototypes to kingdom come instead of working nicely with others.Deadlock989 wrote: ↑Sun Mar 28, 2021 6:23 pm Maybe you could redirect all this dramatic energy to the author of AB instead, and ask whether the mod absolutely has to kill off trees and tiles from other mods.
