Power Demands
Power Demands
The idea of having some type of nuclear (infinite) power supply is appealing but probably won't happen because it makes the game too easy. I would like to see some sort of underground power supply. This could be used to declutter bases and to keep outposts small and defensible. Any input on the idea?
Re: Power Demands
Any reason not to just connect the outposts to your main grid, the one with a few dozen acres of solar panels?
Re: Power Demands
I've tried that. I've had issues with the aliens attacking power poles and disrupting supply. My thinking is if the power lines were underground cables then there would be no risk of that. Has that ever happened to you?
Re: Power Demands
Would it be feasible to build a laser turret installation at the power poles that are being attacked? That hasn't failed me yet, but I'm not quite in the late game
Re: Power Demands
I've considered it but haven't tried it out and I am in the "end game". The spitters have become powerful and attack from long range. I will give it a try and let you know how it goes.
Re: Power Demands
Biters attack power poles only if they are placed in the "area of rage" (the term/mechanic was explained somewhere on the forums, but I can't find it).
Relocate your power line further from your main polluters and it will be safe.

Re: Power Demands
Also, consider using Efficiency modules, especially on Refineries, Chemical Plants and Electric Smelters. It helps reduce the need for huge fields of solar panels + accumulators.
Re: Power Demands
Thanks for the tips! I'll check it out.
