As no one canidate had the majority, they went into a second round of voting between only the top 2 canidates. This is where Zelensky then picked up a majority of the votes that had previously went to other canidates and won with over 13.5 million votes to Poroshenko's 4.5+ million.

Yet, Zelensky got the highest number of votes of any of them in the first round of voting (he had almost double Poroshenko, the second highest). In fact, even if everyone who had voted for someone else in the first round but then voted for him in the second had instead abstained from voting in the second round, he still would've had more votes than Poroshenko by a significant margin.

But seriously, I don't get your point. This is how voting is going to work. When there are a lot of canidates, you're going to get the vote spread out all over the place. At some point, you need to narrow the field, and the best way to do that is limit it down to the top contenders, at which point you then have a choice: vote for which ever one you dislike the least, or don't vote (which, based on the first and second round numbers, it looks like only about 400k people decided to go this route).

It's not because you don't understand that it has no sense. You just wanted to say that not all the population vote but in an insulting way ?

In the population of 43M people you count the kids under 18 YO that are not allowed to vote, and also the people who didn't register on the voting list either by choice or due to living in an territory occupied by a foreign invader.

There was then only 34 544 993 people registered as having the possibility to to legally vote.

Out of which only 18 893 864 turned out to vote for the first election , and 18 491 84 for the second round of the election.

Out of which 5 714 034 voted for Zelensky in the first round as you said. Which was the highest score. And 18 491 840 voted for him in the secound round of the election which was also the highest score.

Obviously you know math well and you see right away that the difference in the % correspond to the vote from the occupied territory no ?

Or it didn't occur to you that maybe in Ukraine voting is not mandadory ? like in Belgium people have to pay a fine if they don't vote, it's mandadory, not in Ukraine, people are free to vote , but they don't have to. And it's forbidden to vote when you are not 18 years old.

You didn't understood 77% of the population because you prefer " 77% of the people who voted voted for him "? it sounds a bit ridiculous that's why it's a common shortcut to say " he won the election with 77%" = " 77% of the people voted for him"

Except as you were explained twice with simple word, voters is people who vote, not people on registered list, this is only 18M for the 2019 election. 13M/18M is not 16.5%.

it's not strange it's the history, like your map from the museum, i've learned that the word Russia and Belarus comes from the history of the Rus of Kiyv, that's the name they came up with when they wanted to be associated with prestigious ancesters, they could only be inspired by Ukrainians.

Thanks for looking at that. I was waiting until I had the opportunity to use a computer again to be able to look up and crunch the numbers myself. Trying to do that from a phone is difficult and error prone for me.
