arbitrary gear check is annoying stop gating space behind inventory nerfs
i severely dislike the forced check on your inventory and other personal slots in game to enter the rocket and think its a bad mechanic as it will only annoy players rather then make it any real kind of challenge the weight limit is bad enough on its own but this is just a nuisance nobody needs please remove it from the hardcoded section of the game so modders can alter this behavior to something more beneficial to all parties

Source, please. https://www.factorio.com/blog/post/fff-382 don't seem to mention anything like that.ErubianWarlord wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2024 12:49 pmplease remove it from the hardcoded section of the game
Even if the limit itself is hardcoded somewhere, item properties which are being used for limit check are likely not.ErubianWarlord wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2024 12:49 pmso modders can alter this behavior to something more beneficial to all parties

the source such as it is would be me asking a modder to look into it and they told me its hard codedEustaceCS wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2024 1:55 pmSource, please. https://www.factorio.com/blog/post/fff-382 don't seem to mention anything like that.ErubianWarlord wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2024 12:49 pmplease remove it from the hardcoded section of the gameEven if the limit itself is hardcoded somewhere, item properties which are being used for limit check are likely not.ErubianWarlord wrote: ↑Fri Oct 18, 2024 12:49 pmso modders can alter this behavior to something more beneficial to all parties

Is there a way to make a different kind of building that just teleports the player into the space platform with their inventory intact? that might be one way to do it if thats possible... but it would suck to not see the cool rocket launch animation and transition
Re: arbitrary gear check is annoying stop gating space behind inventory nerfs
Space is gated behind asteroids (and nothing but asteroids).
Necessity to remove gear does not equate to gear check.
Everything except nukes and otherwise unreasonable to toss around chunks of tech can be shipped by conventional means, separately from character's inventory. And grabbed back once you and your desired inventory have landed. No landing pad required to do so.
Justification and, overall, reasoning behind this specific decision can be refreshed here: https://factorio.com/blog/post/fff-382

I feel like it would be fair enough to allow the player to board with an inventory that, however, is checked against the "rocket capacity" system. So, if your overall gear (outside of armor and weapons) is beyond 1 ton, you simply cannot board. Ammo slots would probably be fine to exclude too, as I don't think holding onto 400 rockets would be game-breaking.
The main annoyance behind this limitation is the fact that you cannot bring blueprints or blueprint books, and you cannot use blueprints that are placed in some container somewhere. This means that you need a separate set of blueprints for each planet, or laboriously manually ship the blueprints along with you to the space platform.

Square icon above minimap is a blueprint library. It's supposed to store blueprint books too. Accessible from anywhere, usable anywhere.

If you put on a legendary mech armor full of legendary toolbelts you can carry over 2000 stacks of items.
I think flying with just your armor and weapons is a reasonable restriction.
Space Exploration in 1.1 let you fly with inventory, so it's obviously not impossible for mods to achieve a similar effect. You just can't piggyback on the Space Age silo ride logic.

With some ajustments, the other 3 plantes (can't say about the last one) can be a "starting planet (again, some ajustment needed).
Aka if we want to start from palnet x or y from 0, this is how it should have been done, not a "you are forced to be limited, hahaha, isen't this fun?"
You can send 5 tesla guns but 10 turrents? why was this limitation even needed? who in the world needs to send tesla guns to other planets, and somehow this breaks the game balance???
25 ammo... because... you know.... you need to REDO every last factory layout on every last planet OR waste hours wating for rocket to fuel up.... OH yes, rations, planing, and optimazing everything so you rush for end game and do infinite research so you don't wait hours... oh so much fun...... Factorio 2.0 is a second job at this stage.
And of course, let me not even mention how you need elevated rails, but, once again, you CAN'T send them, so you need to redo, them as well, on another planet. Cliff explosives? Send the materials since it's faster then waiting for rockets, oh, but you can always do rations and optimise, you know, like a second job
Someone seriosly did not realise that most people don't want such "compromises"

But you can send elevated rails ??
Easy to send ammo is a clear nope, since then you could just make dealing with asteroids trivial (in the inner planets at least) as soon as you first get to space.
