[2.0.11] Failed SteelSeries Gamesense event binding causes freeze/hangup

Post by Alaunus_Lux »

On launching the game, there is a long delay while it attempts to bind/post events for Steel Series Game Sense purposes.

Sometimes, in addition to freezing at game launch, it also freezes each time the map is opened. This log is from a case where it freezes on map opening, during which I force quit the game, as it will do that every time the map is opened until I get lucky on a relaunch of the game.

I use Steel Series GG mostly for Sonar. I do not have a GameSense capable keyboard. This behavior persists even when the Factorio App in Steel Series GG is turned off in Engine>Apps.

Edit: Unchecking "Enable SteelSeries GameSense support" in Factorio Settings>Other removes the launch freeze, and presumably the other freezes I was experiencing. What a relief! I only wish I knew what was causing it days ago :P

Yes. I wouldn't exactly call it resolved - having Steel Series installed shouldn't cause 60s+ freezes, and it's not immediately obvious what's causing it. Probably a relatively small percentage of people will be affected by it, though. Maybe "won't fix"?
