Filters on Space Platform Unload

Post by jmonsky »

Suggestion: Allow the ability to filter what items are allowed to be unloaded to a given planet from the space platform.

For example, I have a ship that goes to the shattered planet and collects a set amount of promethium, goes to Aquillo to get fusion power cells and a set amount of quantum processors, then goes to Nauvis and collects eggs until it runs out of promethium. However, if it is set to unload, it will deliver quantum processors to Nauvis (despite there being a separate ship delivering those there).

Another example would be on my foundation ship that goes to every planet, I want it to deliver foundation materials to Vulcanus where I craft them, but deliver ONLY foundation to the other planets, not the base materials.

100% agree. I have a stationary space station producing iron in space and sending it down but if another ship goes to the same planet, instead of restocking on ammo for the next trip it will send every iron plate down to the planet meaning that no magazines are produced until i manually request at least 1 iron to be sent from the planet, as that will prevent any further iron plates to be sent down.

I found that you can set a request for 0 of an item from every planet (but you can only have 1 instance of an item per group, so you need one of these requests per planet where unload is enabled), which is incredibly clunky as you may have extra structures that are brought around on a normal transport, which could get dropped down. This means depending on the ship you could potentially have quite a few of these 0 filters clogging up the request page

This!

But even better than a filter would be a limit. I have a platform on Aquilo that collects copper and iron in space, which is requested on the ground. However, if the ground is low on iron, it can pull all the iron down and starve the platform's ammo production of metals, so the platform gets beat up by asteroids...

I tried requesting "100--infinity" iron from the planet in the hopes that it would balance with the request from ground and drop everything above 100, but instead it stops dropping iron completely (as @jmonsky said).

As a workaround you could set a request for iron from the planet like "100--200", then the platform would drop everything above 200 iron. But this will soon exhaust the planet's storage with hundreds of thousands of iron plates that will then spill everywhere on the ground. Not fun at all, especially with 5x-power-consuming drones.

Currently I'd prefer the lower bound of a request on the space platform to act as a limiting factor for requests from ground (my 100--infinity example above). However, that's a bit unintuitive. It took me a while to figure out that I could try it, only to find that it does not work. A dedicated unloading limit would probably be more intuitive.
