Simply make a ghost on a space platform for a machine with modules
Then go to the platform hub and check "Auto request missing construction materials":
As you can see it does not request the modules, however it will do so once the building is built.
This is incredibly annoying as I use this feature to work out how many materials I need to send over (using it to *automatically* send over construction materials however is totally useless though unless you have a full rockets worth of the material...).
I've also had this happen with other items (notably belts), but I don't know how to reproduce that issue.

Thanks for the report. That is correct, they will be requested when the building is built.
If you want to get ahold of me I'm almost always on Discord.

A workaround for your use-case might be to use a dedicated upgrade planner to count them ?

Will that also count non-ghost modules though?
I could always use the blueprint tool to get the total count,
deconstruct all the ghosts (I have a deconstruction planner that only tpuches ghosts), then use the blueprint tool again to see how many modules are in use, then control-z to put the ghosts back.
Or I could just manually count them.
