The research button has disappeared

I seem to have lost my Research button. It's there again, if I start a new game, but it's disappeared from the screen for this game:

I've tried resetting everything in the Settings dialog, swapping into and out of Full screen mode and resizing the window, but nonthing I've tried seems to bring it back again:

I can get to the queue by using the keyboard ('T'), but it would be nice to have the button back, please

It looks like you have some sort of mods installed. Have you tried disabling whatever mods you have running?

The button is visible when I start a new game, so it probably is caused by something like that. (I'm discussing another problem with one of the mod authors right now, so it may be connected to that particular problem as well.)

I have tried disabling as many mods as I can, but they are necessary for this game to load (i.e. they are not only cosmetic ones). Is there any debug logging for the main program that I can enable, that might tell me what is causing the Research button to disappear?

I'm new to Factorio, but I am a programmer, so I'm very happy to scroll through debug logs looking for anything suspicious.

Generally, because anybody can make a mod, there are many out in the world, and the mods can interact with each other, so it's generally quite difficult to try to troubleshoot a game with mods. The best course of action is to try to narrow down which mod is causing the problem, and then contact the mod author directly.
