TL;DR
Ability for the programmable speaker to read messages not just blare alarms.
What?
Add the option for the programmable speaker to read icons (not arbitrary text as words, just icons) like iron-plate and bioflux.
The simplest voice alarm would read the control for the speaker, for example bioflux-less than-100.
Only one voice alarm at a time please. A nice addition would be priority so the higher priority voice alarm plays, lower priority are cut off.

For even more fun, allow reading the icons in the show alert message, so I can distinguish between Gleba-rocket-silo-bioflux-less than-100, and captive spawner-bioflux-less than-100 :D
Why?
As a laid back player, I find the various alarm sounds quite stressful. A voice reading an alarm would be much less stressful for me. It would make it more likely that I would not miss an alert, where a visible alert may be hidden behind the GUI I am using.

I don't know if it would be good in the base game, but this is what i attempted to make with my first mod ! It's called Robotic Voice Sample For Speaker.

It adds on the programmable speakers some new "instruments", which are (AI) voices reading the name of (all) the items / entity/ fluid / signals, that are in game, and also a couple addition, with thematic words for trains and the 300 most comonly used english word and the numbers and letters, to make very basic sentences, like "Welcome to Nauvis", "Train 4325 arrived" , or "The factory must grow", or "iron ore quantity low". Made a post to describe it further :113379 , but it's a bit outdated as there were additions since and space age's combinator.

It also adds some famous quote from movies, and some less famous ones too in a separate instrument for the machine to try and be funny or motivationnal.

There are couple mods that have smarter logic than what i did, either for reading the chat or prewritten messages, or making train annoucement automatically, sometimes using additionnal script for really powerful logic (can call AI from the internet in real time to read any langages), leaning more toward an accessibility feature than a (nosiy) toy, this isn't currently suported for me, it's up to the user to not create noisy background, i believe it's fun but not that easy, it requires fiddling a lot to get the timing right , the implementation matters a lot in the ease of use.
