[2.0.47] Crash handling loader blueprints quickly (TransportBeltConnectable::updateRotationPoint)

Post by roldylane »

This has happened twice since 2.0.47, both logs/saves are in this google drive folder, along with a screenshot of mods installed. I mean AAI belt loaders, not robot hand inserters.

After the first time I made a note recounting the event, but writing the note was as far as I went once I realized I needed to make an account to post. The second crash just occured, this time you get the post instead of a recount of what happened, but it was pretty much the same as the first crash.

Here's the note from the first crash:

I added two blue loader blueprints to output uncommon plastic out of a warehouse (also from a mod) from map view. I was at the build site, but I did not have a loader in my inventory.

I set a filter on loader1 to whitelist uncommon plastic, shift-right clicked to copy, pasted onto blueprint for loader2. I decided that loader2 was facing the wrong direction, I rotated it a few times, deleted it, then copy/pasted loader1 to where I wanted loader2. I left, got a loader, came back, bots installed it, it didn’t work. I rotated it, possibly more than once, and then the game crashed. If I were to guess, that entire sequence of events took between two and four seconds. I was interacting a little quicker than usual, but there's a reason I don't play Starcraft.

I hope this makes sense, I’ve got like six or seven thousand hours in and this is the first time I’ve gotten this sort of crash. Thanks for what you do! I hate space age, but I’ll get there. Constructive criticism about my factory is unwelcome, respect my privacy, please, this is shared for diagnosing a sick game so hippa applies.

Lastly, this may be related to copy pasting blueprints rather than placing them from map view. The second crash I was not in map view, I was at the build site.

Let me know if I can answer any questions. I've updated the mods, but given the update dates I don't expect it to resolve the issue.

It's possible there's a bug here, but we so far haven't been able to reproduce it to find the underlying issue (if it exists). If you ever do figure out steps to reproduce it, please let us know.
If you want to get ahold of me I'm almost always on Discord.

It happened again! I think it has to do with autosave. Same as before, I was copy pasting and rotating loaders with warehouses. I was using blueprints in mapview No new mods or anything.

I was peeved because I'd just started copy/pasting the correct filter setup and it crashed. The error log prompt showed up, I went to save it, and checked the time to see how much rearranging I'd need to do, it was five minutes after the last autosave. My autosave timer is five minutes. I checked the old logs, same thing, the crash was at an autosave interval. The new error log and autosave file have been shared in the original google drive folder.

This isn't a game breaking bug or anything, just wanted to update you. I'm going to figure out how screen recording works and reduce my autotimer, I'll try to get you a video of it next time.

None of the crashes you provided logs for are related to or even just coincide with saving.
