Hello fellow engineers!
I had a mega base (1000 science/min) that worked fine. All the trains were set correctly and I never had problem with trains that can not find path. Last play session an orange warning triangle popped and started telling me that my train can not find path. At first I was puzzled and started my debugging process. I found nothing wrong, but the orange warning kept blinking. After some time, to my big surprise the train that was unable to find path managed to find it on its own, I did nothing and the problem resolved its self.
Being 700+ hours in this game, I know that problems just do not go away in this game. I continued playing and the same thing kept reoccurring, train can not find path , train finds path, some other train can not find path and so on....
I attached my save if someone want to take a look.
I do know how to signal properly
I use blueprinted parts for all my rails
Train can not find path, and it finds it later o.O
Re: Train can not find path, and it finds it later o.O
Best guess (without loading the save file) is that you are using train limits (or disabling stations), and a train finishes loading (or unloading) and all the unloading (or loading) stations are currently full. Some time later a train leaves one of those stations, and the train is now able to find an available destination station and hence has an available path.
Re: Train can not find path, and it finds it later o.O
That might be correct! But I have been playing this base for a long time, and I never had problems with it before, if the train is full, and there is no place for it to go, it would just sit on the loading station and sleep there (zzz sign) until it is needed somewhere.
So if that is the case what could be the solution for the problem?
Less trains for that certain material (iron plates in this case) ?
Or do I need to rework something in my network for it to stop happening?

Re: Train can not find path, and it finds it later o.O
It's not a train limit problem. When the train limit is full, the train will have a blue "zzz" icon, not the orange "no path" icon. The affected trains even say in the schedule "All 36 stops are inaccessible". But then the train starts moving, even though the no-path alter is still attached to it.
Did the behavior only start happening after you updated Factorio recently? I wonder if the train pathfinder is taking too long to traverse your huge grid and some tweak to the game made that trigger the no-path alert.

Re: Train can not find path, and it finds it later o.O
Almost every destination station is either disabled or fully reserved by some train, so the trains would simply sleep with the "zzz". However, there is one single station not disabled and not full and not properly connected to the train network due to some cliffs southeast. Because of this, the "unable to path" is shown instead.
It's this one here: How to find:
1. identify the station name by looking at the train schedule. It's a "<deconstruction planner> <iron plate>".
2. press O to get the train overview, select the Stations tab, then select the "<deconstruction planner> <iron plate>" station
3. Inspect every station with that name. Disabled ones have a white cross as indicator, not relevant. Not disabled with trains are ok, they just proved there is a path. Look for the one not disabled and without trains. This is ist.

Re: Train can not find path, and it finds it later o.O
Thank you, I must have missed it when I was pasting blueprints and only noticed the problem way later.
Also thanks for the debugging tips!
Cheers!
