Factorio Windows 11/ARM64 Version

Post by ASayre »

For performance reasons, are there plans to release a Windows 11/ARM64 build of Factorio / Space Age? I have one of the newer Microsoft Surface laptops, which is ARM based ( https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/surfa ... ce-arm-faq ), and would love a Windows/ARM version of factorio so it doesn't have to go through the emulation layer.

Supporting a new platform is a big challenge. We are constantly re-evaluating this. While it's unlikely we will support Windows ARM soon, I'm still going to ask to get an idea: can anybody recommend us specific Windows ARM server hardware that we could build and test on?

I haven't personally used it, but I know a few people who were really satisfied with AWS’s Graviton offering: aws.amazon.com/ec2/graviton. I’m not sure if this would suit your infrastructure, but it’s an option. There’s a Windows Server 2025 preview build for ARM, so creating a custom image to run on AWS should be possible.

For an in-house solution, Windows on ARM does run on Raspberry Pi, though performance may be too limited for your usage. I haven’t had the chance to work with a non-cloud ARM server yet, but I know Gigabyte has a solid range of options: https://www.gigabyte.com/Enterprise/ARM ... =2494,2897.

If it’s helpful, I’d be open to testing it on target hardware, (Snapdragon X-Elite series CPU).

For google searchability:

I just remembered that you have a pipeline for Apple Silicon, so using Parallels is an option:https://www.parallels.com/blogs/windows ... -m-series/. I’m not sure how similar it is to Snapdragon CPUs, but it should make integration into your build/test pipeline somewhat easier.

Also it would be great if headless server got linux arm version as it woud propably make higher end rasberry pi a possibilty for running servers

It looks like you can install/run Windows 11 Arm64 on System76's Thelio Astra: https://www.jeffgeerling.com/blog/2025/ ... ows-arm-pc.
