When wearing Power Armor loaded with shields, resistances are applied when the shield takes damage.
When putting in shield equipment in Tanks or Spidertrons, resistances are not applied when the shield takes damage.

[2.0.55] Vehicle Armor/Resistances inconsistently do not work with Shields
Re: [2.0.55] Vehicle Armor/Resistances inconsistently do not work with Shields
The relevant bug reports have classified this as a won’t-fix.

Those bug reports were made before base game tanks had grid equipment in 2.0, and even before Spidertrons were introduced in 1.0. Ultimately you were the person that classified one of those as won't fix but perhaps now that there are vehicles in the base-game that can actually use shields this could be re-evaluated?Rseding91 wrote: Wed Jun 04, 2025 7:43 pm The relevant bug reports have classified this as a won’t-fix.
Re: [2.0.55] Vehicle Armor/Resistances inconsistently do not work with Shields
The underlying logic is the same in both cases and remains unchanged: An entities resistances do not apply before the shield damage is applied. Armor is different in that it's not the entities resistances but the armor itself - separate from the entity.

Re: [2.0.55] Vehicle Armor/Resistances inconsistently do not work with Shields
I understand the technical explanation but I don't really understand it gameplay wise. Nothing in-game indicates that there's a difference between vehicle resistances and armor resistances. Both vehicles and armor have their resistances listed as "Resistances" in the factoriopedia and both show that they accept energy shield modules. I'm not really sure where I'm supposed to understand this as a player in the game.Rseding91 wrote: Wed Jun 04, 2025 8:07 pm The underlying logic is the same in both cases and remains unchanged: An entities resistances do not apply before the shield damage is applied. If this is fully intentional then this should probably be more player-facing that shields on tanks do not use their resistances. I feel like it's a pretty big deal that shields take more than triple the amount of acid damage on a tank/spidertron, or that the shields on a tank don't really help with its impact-capabilities. And with health of nests and worms buffed in 2.0 it feels a bit ill-fitting that there's no scaling options for (what I assume is intentionally) one of their main abilities. You're kind of completely unable to use tanks as battering rams in 2.0.
Hopefully I'm not rambling too much here. I just feel like much has changed since this was last assessed.
