New preference tick box: mini pause if manual action + 2 more

Post by Green Cat »

Due to legendary or mods, the game units are instant. How many times did you want to turn an inserter but it quickly picked up items and you are in remote view complicating things?

How many times did you change the recepy to something wrong (aka accident/rush/human error) and the inserters already filled it in?

Did you ever added a filter to a splitter but the items when through it already?

The ideea is simple, IF this tick box is on (if it's off it's what we have now, nothing changed), there will be a delay for anything that we manually interact with (even if it's via remote view). Preferable a slider to give similar to the train's inactivity condition. Meaning: nothing happened? it will start operating, something happened? like you added a filter, it will restart the "wait before operating" timer, this is why i said exactly like how train's inactivity condition works.

Mind you, this includeds the items around it. Let's say i change the assemble machine's setting, the inserters around it won't do anything (aka there is no recepy type of "no activity").

This includes belts since sometimes, we want to sort them out. Again, remote view, you can't directly change and need to do mini puzzles. Maybe have belts as a separate tick box? and like this, if this is even needed, we can just quickly tick it on, sort out the issue, and off? or do i just complicate it and the belt is actually not needed since it's to rare for this to be needed? I mean, we can always just roate the belt and then just turn it back....

And of course, this to include combinators. As in, you are fideling with it? well the inserters and such, will not recive any signal (again, only if tick box is on), until a few seconds passed.

Additional Suggestion (separate). When we deconstruct buildings, but a chest has a massive amount of items VS bots, and once again, new tick box, off = what we have now, on = what i suggest: said chest to not be touched by no bots aka the issue where all bots are ocupied, bots from all over the factory go there = might end up with no power. Insted we just get a new notification, and then we can use the FORCE deconstruction to force the bots to still deconstruct it. Or, we just undo the deconstruction and do something else. That or a limit. What do i mean with limit? Let's say we layed 20000 refined concrete. The bots now all go to that 1 modded or legendary chest that has this amount (or lower, yes, i used mods to increase the concrete stack), but, if there is a limit, like let's say only 10 bots, or 100 bots (again, tick box with slider), then that will be the limit. Meaning not more then 100 bots will interact with that box. And here i want to make it clear 2 thing:

situation deconstruction: a chest with hundrends of items, only 100 bots, and only this exact 100 bots will empty it. Meaning thoes 100 bots won't (automatically) do anything else until the chest is (emptied and) deconstructed, and no other bot will join them exactly because of the limit.

On this ideea, the reverse, only 100 bots will lay the concrete, meaning no other bot will join them (even if this 100 bots need to fly from one end of the map to the other, and there are other right next to the concrete pick up... again, this is why i said, tick box, so we can turn it off if such ridiculous situation happens) and also this 100 bots won't do anything else until they are done laying all the concrete or there is no concrete avalable

Last suggestion: And inserter to not put anything on the ground. The current issue is that if there is lava or space, bye bye item. But if there is nothing? the only situation is when we use an inserter to give it to another inserter... well this is why i said to not put it on the ground. Insted it keeps it (just like how the stack inserter works, you know, when it dosen't have enough items and it just holds the item, and you can roatate it), however, another inserter can pick it up/take over. Meaning we solve both the issue where we use chain inserters because we can't bother placing a chest or a belt, as well as we won't have anoymore items that are placed on the ground. And once again, tick box to turn it on or off.

Read this before making suggestions!
TL;DR: Everything is explained below in detail, but for those, who are in hurry (or have eye problems :) ):
One suggestion per thread! If your subject is something like "My Cool Ideas" or "Suggestions" you failed. :)

No. Why programmers should "fix" and complicate code for no real gain rather than player fix their skill issue.
