[2.0.69] Different behavior on Linux with Steam and Full Release, GUI Items not working

I am playing a map-mod called Earth Maps with additional QoL mods.

One feature of this mod is that it has pre-placed teleporter buildings and rocket silos at some of the major cities of earth.
The map version is one that also has multiple teams (implemented by different forces), which can be self-assigne via a button in the top left part of the screen (1)
Additionally, the teleporter buildings can be clicked on, which opens up a GUI element to pick another city to teleport to. (2)

When I load up the same savefile using the same mods on a steam vs non-steam linux64 build, the UI elements are not present (1) or cannot be interacted with (2) - I expect to click on the building and have opened the GUI as shown on the right side of the picture.

Did you enable the “hide mod GUIs” debug setting on the standalone version by mistake? (F4 menu)

Yes apparently I did. Thank you for pointing this out

(note to myself: always check next time with a completely vanilla installation).
