Make lighting on space platforms depend on distance from sun

Post by Fayabella »

Hello!

TL;DR I think it would be neat if space platforms could make use of the lighting system, growing darker for further planets.

It adds a very nice atmospheric vibe, but also tells the player that solar power is indeed weaker further out. It also makes it really feel like you're getting much further out towards the edge of the solar system. Sometimes I will find myself looking at a ship in remote view and have to manually check if it's at Aquilo or Nauvis... being able to tell at a glance would be neat.

Here's what it looks like when lighting (or, darkness, I suppose) is enabled for space platforms.
Space platform with darkness enabled, no lights onboard.

And here's the same ship with atmospheric lighting.

I know this is more of a visual change rather than a direct gameplay change, but I still think it would add a nice atmosphere to space platforms and whatnot. And as always, lamps are an optional feature... you can still see your factory (and space platform) without them.
