[2.0.72]Railgun turrets can't hit small enemies on 1 tile wide land corridor.
If you place a 1 tile landfill wide corridor infront of a railgun turret right in front of it's barrel in the middle some small enemies like the small biter, small wiggler and even the medium wiggler will be able to evade the railgun bullets and not every enemy will be hit. Even worse if they reach it the railgun will never be able to kill them while they will keep hitting it. Plz consider making the enemies hitbox or the railgun bullets hitbox higher so that such a thing is not possible.

Can you please post a save file showing this? I'm having a hard time understanding from the description alone.
If you want to get ahold of me I'm almost always on Discord.

Sure i set it up at the editor in the testing3 save file. You just have to start the time playing. You will see that some small wigglers evade the railgun fire while walking on a single land tile while others get hit after letting them attack for a bit. Sometimes it even happened with medium wigglers as well that are larger.

This is definitely not a bug -> moved to Ideas and Suggestions.
That being said, changing the width of AOE of railgun shells or the bounding box of enemies would have big implications for the game and IMO are a no-go.
In the provided example, part of the "issue" is that the railgun aims for the center of enemies, which leaves some parts on the other side not covered - if it would just shoot straight, it would clear all the enemies, since the width of the efect is 1.

That's.. unfortunate if even a small change can have such implications. It definitely doesn't look right though to miss a straight shot for the kill, perhaps it should aim for the center of the tile the small enemies are at and not the center of enemies smaller than 1 tile? I really don't know if that is even possible really, just a suggestion. Btw i think the fact that it doesn't aim the center of a tile might have this implication as well:

And in the above save i gave if you place walls left and right and let the enemies run in the middle the walls are getting destroyed which again it is the same issue. While the walls are supposedly not being shot at they get destroyed.

That was separate issue: viewtopic.php?p=661823#p661823linktothepast83 wrote: Thu Oct 30, 2025 10:14 pm ... Btw i think the fact that it doesn't aim the center of a tile might have this implication as well:

well, that might actually not work, since walls (without neighbours in that direction) dont block the whole tile - so small enough enemies could sneak through on the sides if the railgun turret would just shoot straight. The unmodded enemies are probably big enough for that not to happen, but still...linktothepast83 wrote: Thu Oct 30, 2025 10:14 pm ...

Well that has some other problems, like what happens if the target is still in range, but the tile center isn't? Either the range would be nerfed in unobvious way, or we open up possibilities or more friendly fire that was not expected.linktothepast83 wrote: Thu Oct 30, 2025 10:14 pm ... perhaps it should aim for the center of the tile the small enemies are at and not the center of enemies smaller than 1 tile?

Like I could imagine a "locked mode", where the turret would just shoot straight ahead when it has targets in its expected area of effect, but the internal shooter logic is quite complex, so it would not be a simple feature to add.

Locked mode as an option sounds interesting, although i can't test it perhaps it would be useful in a space platform as well aiming just straight at incoming huge asteroids might increase the rate of fire of the railgun as well.Lou wrote: Mon Nov 10, 2025 12:56 pmI am sympathethic, it triggers me toolinktothepast83 wrote: Thu Oct 30, 2025 10:14 pm That's.. unfortunate if even a small change can have such implications. That being said, this is quite nieche use case without trivial solutio, so it is really not a priority.
